The arduous search for new tenants is over! You’ve finally found the one – the perfect tenant for the property you’re managing. For you, this is a time to celebrate the much-awaited clinch to the long hours of tenant screening. For your tenants, on the other hand, it might be a different story.

An impending move to a new place can be stressful and overwhelming to new tenants. Just imagine all the packing and adjustment that they need to do!

Here are three simple things you can do to make the move a lot less challenging for new tenants.

  1. Make sure that the property is spick and span.

One way to make your new tenant’s move as easy and worry-free as possible is to thoroughly clean the property before handing over the key. This not only unburdens them of the need to tidy up the property but will also send a signal that you want the property to be this clean at the end of the lease.

  1. Give them a contact list of utility providers.

Upon moving in, tenants would want to have utilities, such as electricity, water, cable, internet connection, etc. available as soon as possible. Provide them with a contact list of local utility providers, as well as other relevant contact numbers they need to call for maintenance and parking issues. You can include this information in a tenant welcome letter.

  1. Prepare a welcome pack for your new tenants.

A small gift to welcome your new tenants will leave a lasting positive impression. What can you include in the package? Simple things like flowers, bottles of water, snacks, fridge magnets, rolls of paper towels, or even a gift card to a local shop can be included in your tenant welcome pack. They don’t have to be expensive. It’s the thought that counts!
